Find Out About Our Upcoming Events
Each April, we celebrate John Muir's April 21st birthday and Earth Day during one fun-filled day of activities. This and every year, come celebrate with us at the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, California. The Celebration features activities and entertainment for all ages. Admission is free!
John Muir advocated the protection of places of spectacular beauty and wildness. His actions have inspired generations to continue his work throughout the world. Since 1978, the John Muir Association has honored those who continue John Muir's legacy of environmental preservation.
Each year, we honor them at an inspiring and entertaining celebration, and we welcome you to join us.
The John Muir Mountain Day Camp is a "naturally good time" for children ages eight to twelve. During this "Muir Immersion" experience, campers are instilled with an appreciation of the life and legacy of John Muir, the naturalist, preservationist, writer, Martinez farmer, and father. The camp is based at the John Muir National Historic Site.
John Muir had an abiding passion for native plants and had an important role as one of the great botanical collectors of his day. The California Native Plant Garden surrounding the John Muir National Historic Site Visitor Center honors Muir's love of native plants.
The John Muir Association published the John Muir National Historic Site California Native Plant Garden Coloring Book and Garden Guide in 2008.
The Guide identifies and describes the plants in the Muir Site's California Native Plant Garden and is available for purchase.
